Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 09/05/2005 - 21:52

Rossport 5After more than 3 years running roughshod over local communities on the north west coast or Ireland, oil & gas giant Shell International (along with Statoil (Norway) & Marathon Oil (US)) are poised to transform a remote conservation area of outstanding natural beauty into an environmental disaster zone with serious public health and safety implications. A dangerous on-shore pipeline and massive refinery will be constructed, poisoning the area and further contributing to climate chaos.

This is your last chance to book for the national anti-roads conference on 4th June... the first anti-roads conference since 1996, and will be a unique chance for all those opposing roads schemes to meet, share information, and gain inspiration to win. Beyond Oil: The oil curse and solutions for an oil-free future

Beyond Oil booklet

This new 32 page A5 booklet brings together background info on oil and conflict, repressive regimes, development, oil industry workers, and climate change. Together with info on the revolving doors and mutual support between the oil industry, government and the International Financial Institutions which fund new oil projects, it lays out the UK’s involvement in the oil curse, and the action we can take to challenge it.

If you want evidence that global warming is happening, you need only look to China.
Unseen by the rest of the world, much of the north of the country is turning into a

The Ecologist Climate Change special issue features in-depth analysis of the growing climate crisis...

International Call to Action on Root Causes of Climate Change On Final Day of G8 Summit 8th July 2005

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 05/17/2005 - 23:23

G8 Logo The G8 is coming. The leaders of the world's 8 richest countries will soon gather in Scotland, hoping to carry on carving up the planet. We forecast a high tide of greenwash in the run-up to the summit, as Tony 'Hot Air' Blair claims to be making climate change a top priority. It looks like it's up to us to unmask the G8 Climate Criminals and expose the hypocrisy of their agenda.

New Rising Tide Website

Welcome to the new Rising Tide UK website! It's long overdue, but we've finally overhauled the way this site works, so any group in the Rising Tide UK network can post news and updates, a bit like how Indymedia works. Although it looks similar to the old site, a lot has changed behind the scenes, including a focus on web standards to make the site more accessible. Hopefully this means loads more up to date, exciting info on climate action that's going on around the UK. It definitely means some less stressed webby volunteers.

Roads and Airports Gathering, 19th - 21st November 2004

Airport occupation at Schipol, Netherlands

More traffic growth? More roads? Airport Expansion? You must be CHOKING! It's time to take ACTION!

Labout are backsliding on the victories of the 1990's roads protests, and many road schemes, dropped in the 1990s, are back on the road builders' agenda. Meanwhile the Government is also proposing large-scale airport expansion... and all in the same breath as talking about tackling climate change.

This backslide CAN and WILL be stopped by PEOPLE POWER.

We need to ORGANISE NOW!
