Filmed testimonies from people affected by climate change and the oil industry:
The next UN talks on climate change will take place in Canada at the end of November 2005. While the US administration remains resistant to signing the climate agreement and many countries are on course to fail to meet their Kyoto targets, the impacts of climate change intensify.
Meanwhile the oil industry is investing billions in discovering new sources of oil and creating environmental and social injustices in communities they operate in.
Raised Voices is a collection of short statements from people living on the fenceline of the oil industry around the world and from people in the global South on issues related to climate change.
My name is Milly and I live in South Africa near the oil refinery. This place is polluted with all kinds of rubbish. My brother died from a tumor last year. We are suffering in this Earth. We are supposed to be living free. We are human - not animals. We just want to live a normal life and we want to give our future generations a pure life.
Raised Voices is now available in multiple formats for screenings. The testimonies are ideal for screening between main film presentations or on a loop in gathering spaces. Contact heidi@carbontradewatch.org or call +44 7971 843749 to order a copy. From mid-November the testimonies will also be available to watch online at http://www.raisedvoices.net
